Preview music and dance classes at ROOTS for free!

Have you been thinking about enrolling your child in dance classes or music lessons?

We’ve got an event you shouldn’t miss!

ROOTS Academy invites you to attend our Open House from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 18.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to stroll through our beautiful facilities and studios, attend some really cool classes and events for free, and find out what you need to do to enroll for the 2018-2019 season.

But this isn’t just for parents. Be sure to bring the kids for a day filled with musical activities, educational events, and lots of fun!

Check out just some of the reasons you should be there:

1. See what ROOTS is all about

More than 3,000 students have made ROOTS their choice for music and dance instruction since 2008. Now is your chance to find out why!

ROOTS is a fun, engaging, and safe place for students of all ages to learn the art of dance, explore the world of music, and develop their skills. We believe every student possesses a unique gift of creativity, and our mentors will help each of them uncover their talents, build self-discipline, and learn how to perform at their best.

During the Open House, we encourage you to explore our building, studios, and rehearsal spaces, get a feel for our nurturing approach to instruction, and find out more about the wide range of music and dance classes we offer.

2. Find out if lessons are right for your family

Do you have a little dancer or aspiring musician who you think could benefit from dance lessons or private music instruction? This is an incredible opportunity to see if they’re ready to take the first step.

In addition to an “instrument petting zoo,” we’ll be offering several free classes and events that’ll be informative, inspiring, and lots of fun! Although you don’t need to register to attend the Open House, you will need to register for each featured class or event you’d like to attend. But, don’t worry, they’re all totally FREE!

  • Toddler/Preschool Trial Dance Class
Join us for a free trial class designed especially for kids between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years old. Dancers will learn to follow instructions in a group setting and learn basic dance technique. At the end of the class, we invite parents to join us for an informational meeting.
  • Open Contemporary Dance Class
For older kids, we’ll host a free intermediate Contemporary class with mentor Kathleen McPherson. Dancers will learn a basic combo and get a taste of what it’s like to take classes at ROOTS. This class is open to dancers of all experience levels who are 8 years old or older.
  • Rhythm Lesson: Bucket Band
You don’t need an expensive drum set to learn the fundamentals of rhythm. All you need is a bucket! This fun, engaging, and interactive group class is a great beginner’s course for any student who has an interest in music, no matter what instrument.

3. Meet our mentors

A good teacher is the key to keeping music and dance students engaged, motivated, and inspired. And at ROOTS, we’ve got some of the best.

In fact, we don’t call them teachers. We call them “mentors,” and they’re the reason our students are able to develop their skills, enjoy themselves, and keep pushing themselves to be their best.

At the Open House, we’ll have plenty of mentors on hand to lead our featured classes and events. It’ll be a wonderful time to get to know some of them, ask questions about our class offerings and private instruction, and give you their recommendations about where you should start.

4. Hear our music students in action

It’s one thing to talk about how incredible our students are. It’s another thing to hear it for yourself!

We’ve got a pair of performances planned for the Open House, and each will give you an idea of where your child could be in just a short time. But there’s limited space for these events, so you’ll need to register now!

  • Aspiring Artist Writers’ Round
This season, we’re introducing a brand new type of lesson especially geared to training for singer-songwriters, and the Open House will offer a glimpse. We’ll have a writers’ round performance with some of our current student singer-songwriters, and it’ll be a great way to find out more about this exciting new program.
  • On Stage Student Program Performance
If you’re still thinking about enrolling your child in music lessons, this will be the perfect event to attend. It’ll include a performance by students in our On Stage program, which teaches kids how to collaborate with others in an actual band. Enjoy the performance followed by a Q&A session, learn how we teach, and find out how your student can excel.

5. Be fabulous

Are you looking for a way to stay in shape but don’t like traditional workout routines? We hear you!

It’s time to get fabulous. We’re offering an introductory b.fab Fitness class to anyone high school age or older. Set to high-energy music and led by motivational instructors, b.fab combines cardio with strength training. It’s an amazing way to get on your feet, burn calories, and have fun!

Bring comfortable clothes, athletic shoes, and a positive attitude, and we’ll give you an introduction to b.fab that’ll have you pumped for more!

6. Grab some gear

Whether you’re just starting out in dance and music or looking for a new challenge, ROOTS has you covered… literally.

From 10 a.m. to noon, we’ll have a pop-up shop with Franklin’s Bellissimo Dance Boutique. You’ll be able to pick up basic and traditional dance apparel for dancers of all ages and experience levels, and all of it comes from the latest trends in dance and fitness wear.

We’ll also have lots of brand new ROOTS merchandise available for purchase!

7. Win free stuff!

What’s an Open House without games and prizes?

While you’re touring our facility and learning about all of the fun we have at ROOTS, you can also take part in our scavenger hunt and enter to win some great stuff!

Enter to win door prizes and participate in our raffle to take home some great items.
