Jackie French

Jackie French (voice • guitarukulele • songwriting) is known for innovating, building, and inspiring worship teams. She’s been playing, singing, teaching and leading worship for around 10 years. She recently completed a coveted internship position with Hillsong Creative in Sydney, Australia.

After spending her first 10 years in Los Angeles, Jackie moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and still considers it her home town. She has a degree in Psychology with a Music minor from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

She recently moved to Nashville after completing her internship in Australia. “I have missed the creative community that was in the city and Nashville has one of the best communities in the U.S. I am beyond amazed that I get to live here.”

Her passion is connecting with people — music is a means to an end. “I am passionate about connecting with people, and teaching is an amazing opportunity to do so. I love music because it gives a opportunity to connect with people on a different level than anything else. Music has been the vessel to lifelong connections and friendships with people. Nothing excites me more.”

Q&A with Jackie

What causes are you passionate about?
I am passionate about the creative type person. The outcast who feels different from others. I want them to know they’re not alone, and God loves them. He has created them for a special purpose and that is to capture His glory. We are all created in His image thus, we are creators as well.

What’s your favorite local spot to spend time at when you’re not working & what do you do there?
I love to hang out in Centennial Park and chill under the huge trees, listen to music, write. It’s fun to people watch as well.

What is your favorite down-time activity to reduce stress?
I love to find the best coffee in any town I go to! For some reason it fuels my soul.

Of all the places you have traveled, which is your favorite?
My college choir took a trip to Italy, and I have to say that I still dream about Milan and the gelato I ate there.

Give us an idea of your sense of humor. Is there a Youtube video that really made you “laugh out loud”?
I love Miranda Sings. I have even seen her in concert. She is a YouTube comedian, and I just can’t get enough of her. This video is one of my favorites. Also I’m convinced that the only celebrity I would cry if I saw them in person is Tina Fey.

What type of music did you grow up listening to? Is it the same now? What changed?
I remember going through a bubble gum pop phase, gangster phase, punk rock phase. What has changed is that I realize that I can like many different genres and that it isn’t taboo to like rap and rock at the same time.

What is your favorite all time movie and why?
Stars Wars 4, 5, & 6 because I want to be Princess Leia.

If you could meet one author, performer who would it be and what wold you ask them?
Carole King and I would ask “How do you discipline yourself to sit down and write? What is your starting point?”

What is your favorite quote?
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”-Mahatma Gandhi
