Kelsey Southerland grew up dancing in Birmingham, AL starting at the age of two and worked in various styles throughout her training. As a student at Jackie O’Neal School of Dance, she studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop. She was a member of their competition team for six years, traveling and competing at different competitions and conventions. Outside of the studio, Kelsey was a member and captain of the Spain Park High School Dazzlers where she was a UDA All-Star and helped lead the team to their first UDA National finals in hip-hop.

After graduating high school, Kelsey took various choreography and teaching opportunities with several schools and studios. Kelsey also attended the University of Alabama where she was a member and choreographer of the UA Resonance Show Choir group. She spent a summer interning with The PULSE in New York City, learning and working with dance industry professionals including Brian Friedman, Tricia Miranda, Ian Eastwood and Laurieann Gibson. After graduating from UA with a degree in Public Relations and Communications, Kelsey moved to Nashville to pursue different career opportunities. She is excited to use her passion for performing to help the students of ROOTS become the best dancers they can be.
