If you’ve ever thought about taking music lessons, now is the time to start. Music brings enjoyment not only to the student, but its benefits touch every area of life. Research shows learning music facilitates:

  • Learning other subjects and language development
  • An increased IQ
  • The brain working harder
  • Stronger spatial-temporal skills (i.e. solving multistep problems)
  • Improved test scores

There are even greater benefits when a quality music education is introduced before the age of 7. That’s why we offer the Early Beginner Class for ages 1-6. (If you have a little one, the next Early Beginners class session will run the week of January 16th – the week of April 10th.)

But the greatest benefit of music lessons goes beyond the scholarly benefits. It increases your quality of life and lasts a lifetime. “It’s important not to oversell how smart music can make you,” Dr. Kyle Pruett, clinical professor of child psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, told PBS. “Music makes your kid interesting and happy, and smart will come later.” The intrinsic benefits of learning music include an increased appetite for things that bring pleasure to others, for connection with other people, and being part of something larger than one’s self.
