Monthly Membership: $40/month – 4 visits per month
*Note: If classes don’t fill 24 hours prior to the scheduled time, the instructor holds the right to cancel the class. Please pre-register if you plan to come to class.

Join Deavon for chill hip hop classes with a professional feel in a welcoming and comfortable environment! These classes are pure fun and fill up quickly, so register in advance!

Deavon Walden is a dance teacher and choreographer, born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been a dancer since he was 4 years old and a teacher since he graduated from DC Dance Factory, at the age of 18. He has trained at many studios and has learned from some of the best teachers, even getting opportunities to perform alongside them. He has toured with Disney artist Coco Jones, starred in a music video for country artist Eric Paslay, performed on award shows with artists such as Pharrell and Toby Mac, and has been in numerous other gigs, modeling, acting, and dancing.

Women’s Combo Fitness

Calling all women!  Women’s Combo Fitness is a safe and encouraging environment of women eager to support you on your fitness journey. Get fit alongside your friends with 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of toning, and 20 minutes of yoga and stretching. The class will focus on safe, appropriate exercise for women in all stages of life. Come join our tribe!

Liza ter Kuile has been teaching fitness classes for over 8 years. Her fitness journey began after struggling with postpartum depression. This experience led her to start Oh Baby Fitness Dallas in 2013. Her business quickly grew to be the largest prenatal and postpartum exercise company in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and was recognized as the Best Prenatal and Mom and Baby Fitness classes in Dallas for 2015 and 2016. Liza holds certifications in AFAA Group Fitness, Les Mills- BodyFlow, YogaFit, Oh Baby! Fitness Prenatal/Postpartum and SWC Aquatics. Liza is passionate about women’s health, mind, body, and spirit. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband, David, and their four children: Anna, Katherine, Dawson and Mollie!

What to Expect

Adult dance classes are exploding here at ROOTS Dance. And for good reason! They’re fun and a great workout. Here are a few things you can expect when taking an adult dance class here at the studio.

  • Our classes are perfect for beginners and experienced dancers, and are a great way to get fit while having a great time.
  • Wear casual clothes you feel comfortable moving in, a bottle of water and a towel if you expect to work up a sweat!
  • Classes last one hour — but feel free to take a break any time you need it.
  • These classes are even more fun when you come with a friend.

At the end of your class, let us know what you liked about it, or what you’d like to see differently. Our dance mentors would love to meet you and talk with you.

ROOTS Academy is located in the heart of Cool Springs, just a 20-minute drive from Nashville and surrounding areas. ROOTS is easily accessible at 320 Southgate Court.


5 Reasons to Try Adult Dance Classes

Think dance classes are just for kids? Think again. Numerous studies support a myriad of reasons to continue dancing as adults. Here are a few:

1. Lose weight.

Dance classes have been found to burn more calories in a 30-minute period than running, swimming or cycling. Amazing, right?

2. Increase energy.

University of Brighton’s Dr. Nick Smeeton, who conducted the study above, added: “Dance not only appears to increase positive and reduce negative emotions, which are typical effects of exercise, but we also found that dancing actually reduced feelings of fatigue too.”

3. Improve balance and posture.

With the amount of time we spend sitting and working at computers, it’s vital we achieve and maintain better balance and alignment. Dance can help tremendously with that.

4. Increase flexibility and reduce stiffness.

Dancing not only helps with balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health and more, it can boost your memory and help prevent dementia. In a study by The New England Journal of Medicine, dancing was the only physical activity associated with a lower risk of dementia.

5. Make new friends.

Adult dance classes at ROOTS are non-competitive. This is a supportive environment that is judgment-free and full of friendly faces ready to get to know you!
