A couple of months ago, I climbed up-top my ladder and pulled down the last visibile remnant of the “School of Worship” branding (Why we changed our name). The plastic letters, now detached from the cinder block walls, left a weathered stain sign of a tenant that once occupied our facility: Kwik Kopy Printing.
While the physical lettering was no longer, the blank slate left our building without a clear identity. Certainly our new ROOTS road sign would help people know who we are, but with the overgrown shrubs and relatively small display, it wasn’t a for sure…Until now.
This past Saturday, my dad and I headed off to a local rental company to pickup the tools that would help the world know exactly who we are.
Today, the main hedge in front of our building has been cut down about 15″ so that those who want to glance our direction can see more than greenery. Atop the entrance of our building are a handful of styrofoam blocks and letters that define exactly who we are, and what we do.
ROOTS: Music Voice Dance
It can’t get any simpler than that because that’s exactly who and what we are.
In some ways, these letters represent more than a sign. To me, it means that we’re really doing this thing, that we’re serious, that we mean business, and that we’ve got vision.
I don’t know whether the thousands of people who’ll pass by our building on a daily business will understand what this really means, or if they’ll even notice, but for those that do see it, I hope it speaks to them, like it does to me.
This sign isn’t just our identity, it’s an indicator of what’s to come.
