A message from Kristy Chowning—co-owner of ROOTS and wife of CEO
A big part of Kyle and I’s life has been about giving back to those in need. Because this is embedded into our DNA, it’s also in the vision and future of ROOTS.
This Saturday (November 16), from 2-6pm, I will be hosting a Sole Hope Shoe Cutting party at ROOTS and you and your family (kids too) are invited!
Join us as we trace and cut old jeans to create shoes that help kids in Africa who are suffering from parasites that leave them in debilitating pain. In partnership with the non-profit, Sole Hope, we can make a difference during this season of Thanks and Giving.
What to bring:
- Old jeans
- Scissors (fabric is best)
If you don’t have old jeans to donate, don’t worry. I hope to have extras.
The very fabric that you and your kids bring and cut the patterns out of, will be sent to Uganda to be made into shoes by Ugandans.
There will also be a lemonade stand to help raise money for Blood: Water Mission.
A representative from Noonday Collection will be at the event selling jewelry made by women around the world. By purchasing jewelry through Noonday you will be lifting others out of poverty and changing the world.

What is Sole Hope?
Sole Hope is ran by a family in Uganda who educates the people, removes the parasites and gives shoes to help prevent re-infection. If you want to see a quick video about them, check out their YouTube video below
