  • How do I choose which instrument is right for me? 
    • We know that making that first step in choosing your instrument is a tough one. Don’t let that stop you! We are all about your student finding the right fit. If you’re unhappy with your mentor or instrument, you can simply let us know and we’ll try a different option.

  • How do I choose which mentor is right for me?
    • Every lesson and class are led by instructors that we purposely call “mentors.” We take the responsibility of training the next generation seriously. Each of our mentors are trained and empowered to develop the student’s gifts and talents, but also to build trusted and reliable connections. We believe that if the students trust the environment and mentor, they will thrive and grow faster. You can meet our Music Mentors here!
  • Can I change my instrument or my mentor?
    • If you need a change in your instrument or your mentor, simply contact our office at (615) 804-1177 or music@rootsacademy.net. We would love to talk through your options.
  • If I miss a lesson, can I have a makeup lesson?
    • Absolutely! If a lesson is cancelled 24 hours in advance, we will be happy to schedule a makeup. However, if a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, we are unable to offer a makeup lesson. (See all policies and procedures here.) All students are allowed one makeup per month.
  • How do I stop my lessons?
    • We understand that life happens, and you may need to pause your lessons for a variety of reasons, like a school play, basketball season, or sometimes even an extended illness or family hardship. We’d rather it be for the play or basketball! But whatever the reason, ROOTS has crafted a hold policy with you in mind. It allows you to put your lessons on hold rather than withdrawing completely. Private music lessons may be put on hold for either 30 or 60 days. (By the way, group music class/sessions are too short to put on hold, so those aren’t eligible.)To place a hold on your lessons, just submit your request using the Music Lesson Hold Form.   • How do I access my ROOTS account?
    • Did you know that you have a personal ROOTS account where you can view your schedule, pay your bill, update payment information, and more? You can easily access your account at any time by visiting: https://rootsacademy.net/account/.

DANCE

  • How do I know which class is right for me?
    • At ROOTS we want to make sure every dancer is in the class that will serve them best. The first step to determining the appropriate class for your dancer is to find the appropriate age division, Toddler (ages 2.5. – 3), Preschool I (ages 3-4), Preschool II (ages 4-5), Mini (Kindergarten – 2nd Grade), Youth (3rd – 5th Grades), Junior ( 6th – 8th Grades), Teen (9th – 12th Grades). Age is determined by the students age as of August 15th. Within the older divisions classes are leveled with increasing difficulty in levels I – III. For placement in levels II or III the ROOTS dance staff would love to set up a quick placement meeting with your dancer. To schedule please contact dance@rootsacademy.net.
  • What if the class I want to enroll in is full?
    • If the class you would like to enroll in is full, go ahead and register for the waitlist. This will put you in line to be notified if a space becomes available in the class. When a spot in the class becomes available we will contact you and confirm that you are still interested. You will not be charged tuition until a spot for your dancer is guaranteed.
  • Do I have to participate in recital?
    • All dancers are encouraged to participate, but recital participation is not required. All recital details and fees will be communicated in the month of October. Families will then have the opportunity to agree and confirm participation or opt out at this time. Dancers that choose not to participate will still be able to participate fully in their class and will still learn the recital dance. Recital participation must be confirmed by November 1st or participation can not be guaranteed. Any dancer that joins after this time will still be allowed to participate pending costume availability and may be subject to added fees.
  • Are there any class options besides normal classes during the week?
    • Yes! We have Master Classes and Workshops every month to give our dancers and dancers in the community opportunities to come in and learn from the best. You can find out more about ROOTS Dance Master Classes and Workshops here.
  • Where do I purchase my dance clothes and shoes? 
    • We recommend purchasing all dance attire at Bellissimo, a dance boutique right here in Franklin. The address is 100-B Mission Court, Franklin, TN 37067.
  • Are there any options for adults?
    • Absolutely! We are serious about our Adult Dance Program here at ROOTS. We have Hip Hop classes on Wednesday evenings! Click here to view the full schedule. We have options available for class passes as well. You can sign up for a class here!
  • If I miss a class, can I make it up?
    • Sure! Students are welcome to make up their class in another class time at their same level or below. Simply email us at dance@rootsacademy.net to let us know that you will be out for your class.
  • How do I withdraw from my class?
    • If for any reason you wish to withdraw from your class, we would love to talk with you. Give us a call at (615) 804-1177 or email dance@rootsacademy.net. If you are sure you’d like to withdraw, please complete the withdrawal form.
