2. Father’s Day Student Feature – The Bickel’s

To sum up Rod and Collier Bickel in one phrase – “Livin’ the dream!” Whenever Rod is asked how he is doing, that is his response… and he means it! This father/son tap-dancing-pair joined the ROOTS family just over a year ago, and we haven’t stopped laughing since. Between tap classes and music lessons, they are in the studio several times a week, and we have had so much fun getting to know them.

“Collier and Rod are hilarious. Time flies by when I have them in class! They work hard, have progressed so much, and are a lot of fun to teach. I can tell that they love tap and are passionate about the art form. I appreciate their commitment to a style of dance that has decreased in popularity over the years, especially in this town.” – Jessica Stillman, Mentor

3. Want to dance in a music video?

At  Hip Hop Camp this summer, students will be given an insight to the world of a professional dancer from Charity Baroni. Charity has danced on tour with Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry! She is bringing her skill and passion to the students at ROOTS Hip Hop Camp alongside Thierry Strickland to teach fun choreography to age appropriate, hit music and guide students in the making of a music video! You don’t want to miss it.

July 18-22 (Ages 5-16) – Register for Hip Hop Camp

4. Early Beginners Music Summer Sessions

The Early Beginners Music Program Summer Sessions kicked off last week, but it’s not too late to join! Introduce your little one to the world of music through a 12-week program focused on rhythm and musicality through interactive games and hands-on techniques. Students will learn the basics of a wide array of musical instruments and build the foundation they need to excel in private lessons!

    • Acorns (Ages 1-2) – a “mommy and me” style class, designed for toddlers and caregivers.
    • Sprouts (Ages 3-4) – Songs, games and activities in this fun group class prepare preschoolers for a lifetime of music studies. No parents necessary!
    • Saplings (Ages 5-6) – Built for kindergarteners, this course gives young musicians a chance to explore numerous instruments while building a strong musical foundation in a weekly group class.
