ROOTS welcomes its newest guitar mentor, Justin Forshaw!

Justin ForshawDid you know there’s a list of the top 100 Christian guitarists of all time? Yep. And guess who’s on it? ROOTS’ newest guitar mentor, Justin Forshaw (guitar). Placing #21 on the list, Justin has seen additional professional success as the guitarist for We As Human. The Atlantic Records-signed group has had multiple no. 1 singles on Christian rock, a No. 1 single on Active Rock and been nominated for Best Rock Album and Song of the Year at the Dove Awards.

Justin is known for his technical prowess and has worked with notables names including Howard Benson, Nick Raskulinecz, Travis Wyrick, John Cooper and Lacey Sturm. He’s endorsed by Ibanez Guitars, Mesa/Boogie amplification and Sinister Guitar Picks.

He played with a worship team at a local church in Washington until he was connected to We As Human, who was looking for a guitar player. Four year ago, he moved to Nashville to be closer for touring, but as “fallen in love with this area.”

Justin works well with students who have passion and are focused, but still like to be “goofy and have a great time.”

He began playing when he was 12, growing up in the greater Pacific Northwest. His stepdad owned a couple of guitars and an old Crate amp. He exposed him to classic rock songs by Jimi Hendrix. “We lived near Seattle and as soon as I discovered grunge music I was hooked,” Justin says. “

He’s been teaching students all over the country via Skype for about two years now. “It has been one of the highlights of my career to be able to work with so many gifted and amazing people!”

He’s married to Stephanie and the two have two boys, Eli and Judah.
